Tanzania Private Sector Foundation


The Tanzania Private Sector Foundation was established to promote private sector-led social and economic development in Tanzania. The organisation is aimed at specifically carrying out the following functions:

  • Providing member organizations with services they value;
  • Understanding and representing their common interest; and
  • Engaging the Government in effective advocacy and lobbying.


To function as an apex and focal private sector organization in Tanzania by promoting private sector development as well as effective engagement with Government of Tanzania and other stakeholders in matters of development policy

Impact and Success Stories:

The Tanzania Private Sector Foundation has managed to lobby the Government to extend the number of years on Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) from 3 years to 5 years.They have also further managed to lobby for the reduction of Skills and Development Levy (SDL) from 6% to 5%. In the same agenda, the Government has also agreed to review the VAT rate as well as the level of exemptions.

They also contributed to the Amendments to the OECD Investment Policy Review documents for Tanzania. This has been continued with effective engagement in contribution to the National Constitutional Review Process.
